Wow! So haven’t been able to access the net since my rant about the world cup, which probably indicated that I had become some mad feminist, shaved my hair off, burned my bra and flew over to Germany just to pick a fight with a geeza!
Alas, no I just couldn’t get near a computer. However, I have much to update on……..
This information will probably be interesting for our Al, I read in the daily Blah the other day that the 1970’s Dr. Who episodes which have been missing for a fair old while have no re-appeared and have been re-mastered but as animation! They have finished a two parter, something about Cybermen and this will be released at the end of the year on DVD. If it sells enough copies then they will in turn produce more!!
If you wanna know more please access the link below (if it is a link!) www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/news/ cult/news/drwho/2006/06/20/33077.shtml
Ok what else?!? Went to see the very Controversial Hard Candy, directed by David Slade and starring XMen 3’s own little Kitty Prime (Ellen Page), Hayley and Patrick Wilson, Jeff. Basically the story goes that a popular successful photographer pursues a 14 year old girl over the internet and encourages them to meet up. On finding that they hit it off, (during an extremely uncomfortable scene) Hayley asks to see his apartment and all enthusiastic in all, Jeff takes her back. Hayley decides that she wants to expose Jeff for what he is and the action that plays out can be extremely uncomfortable for our male audience members. Take not gents!
Both actors are excellent in this film. Ellen can turn from cute and innocent 14 year old to a vengeful and provocative woman. Patrick can also turn on the charm and even when the audience is hating him, he can pull it back to make us pity and empathise with him. Top notch acting.
The camera shots are gritty and hand held. It feels like real time and the action takes part soley between these two characters. The intensity can practically be gripped with both hands. Just awesome! 4 outta 5!
Also went to see Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. DUdes! I loved this film, despite the utterly, “It’s all about getting the girl” plotline, I loved it! The cars are wonderful, so much so that after it, I wanted to drive the crappy Citreon I was driving at an extremely high speed and crash into a tree. There is eye candy for all, yes girls, tottie for your too. Everybody is very rich and very thin and very beautiful.
My only concern with the whole movie was that our little Caleb (Lucas Black) from American Gothic was the lead role. I don’t care how grown up he looks, or how hot his smile & bod was, it just felt wrong! Wrong wrong wrong! He was very good all the same at being southern and smouldering, but I cannot get him out of his childhood role.
Anyways, if you want something cheesey and just for the popcorn, go see it it rocks!! 3 outta 5!
Also went to see The Lake House, just one word needs to sum up this film, “Gobsh*te”. Both Reeves and Bullock sucked. There was very little chemistry between them despite their Speed days. He looked middle aged and ready for the scrap heap and poor Sandra just seemed sad, even when she pretended to be happy….aaaahh! Please avoid like the plague…there are no teary tender moments, or fluffy fluff…would rather have a hep B infected dog lick my eyeballs than see it again! 1 outta 5! (and that’s being generous). Amen!
Cheers for the link KFK, I’m awaiting the joys of refurbished old-Who like a big bald awaity thing…
