So, had a lovely day off on thursday, hurrah! and spent the day with my excellent friend Dilligenz. We decided to potter around sunny Partick for the afternoon raiding the charity shops of old videos and jig saws (D’s latest obsession).
However, we decided to go into the British Heart Foundation furniture shop just at the junction of crow road. We went in to find the prices absolutely ridiculous and the majority of the furniture at cost price…except the second hand Ikea furniture which was being sold dearer than the original catalogue price. At this we left as it just felt wrong…wrong wrong wrong…that a charity shop should be charging such a ridiculous price for furniture which they got for FREE after all!
We then went over to the Maxie Richard’s Furniture Foundation shop (which is a Christian Charity) more info at: www.maxirichards.org. We told the lady behind the counter how ridiculous we found the prices in the British Heart Foundation furniture shop and she told us that it isn’t the charity that runs it. It is actually owned by a businessman who asked BHF to use their name for 10% of the profit. Therefore he doesn’t pay any council tax on the building nor does he have to pay his staff, they are all VOLUNTEERS!!!!
Myself and Dilligenz thought it was utterly appauling. Something needs to be done. If anybody has any constructive suggestions (not burning it down thankyou!) please leave them. If you kids could also spread the word around about the audacity of this guy I’d appreciate it. Grrrrrr!!!!
Really enjoying your site KFK!
