Soooo, went to the cinema on friday to view an extremely random (and highly unoriginal) film named Angel-A. It is French, and directed by Luc Besson. NOw I like Luc….he has directed a few good movies in his time, Taxi, Leon and the Fifth Element, and a few doozies Joan of Arc and this one to name but a few!
The story in it’s unoriginality reflects ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’. Down and out guy named Andre is hedonistic and a gambler. He borrows large sums of money from gangsters around Paris to sustain his quality of life. Unable to pay them back he decides to throw himself off a bridge into the Seine. Just before he leaps he looks to his left and sees an extremely leggy blonde throwing herself into the water…he of course being a man decides to save her, in return she helps him turn his life around, only to fall in love with the wee spud, eh sorry, guy.
This film is a nice concept but doesn’t make the grade. The chick (Rie Rasmussen) who plays the angel is very masculine as well as feminine and fits the role very well. With her sheer height of over six feet she towers over Andre (Jamel Debbouze who starred in Amelie) who seems no taller than Jimmy Krankie. However, height alone cannot save a film. He does get irritating after a while due to his incessant nattering. The ending sucks as instead of the one you really, really want, you get the happy Hollywood ending with mush and fluff…grrrrr….Luc you freakin sell out!
So all in all, (I’m doubting if any of the above made sense) it isn’t worth seeing. 2 outta 5…..steer clear people!! Go rent ‘It’s a Wonderful LIfe’ instead as it just rocks!
It you have no time to rent movies you can watch it it here performed by bunnies in 30 seconds: www.angryalien.com/1204/wonderful_lifebuns.asp

Do you think the movie would have been better if Jimmie Krankie actually appeared in it?
Yeah, I think he probably would have been a better choice….just as annoying but at least he would have had the comedy aspect…..maybe….
