Rant of the Week: Middle Lane Drivers

Posted on Tuesday 19 September 2006

Now, being a person who uses the M8 West bound every single day of my existence to get to my work (and obviously east bound to get home) I am allowed to rant once and while about the drivers on the road.  I am in no way saying that I am a perfect driver, far from it, I have road rage, many have seen it and experienced it at the best of times, but it has to be said that I hate middle lane drivers with a flaming passion.

So I would like to take this opportunity to educate those drivers who read this blog on what a middle lane is for (as per the Highway Code, yes that’s right, the law, people!!)

The middle lane of a motorway is an overtaking lane. (Please imagine a pointy stick and projector if you please).  This means, that once you have overtaken the car on the inside lane, it is time for you to slide on back in there where you belong at your mediocre 50 miles per hour in a 70 zone.  The middle lane is NOT for you to sit in at this stupid speed (50) in order that the slow lane and fast lanes are overtaking you and giving you very stern looks…NO! It just causes the faster drivers (those at 70) to be very very angry with your sorry ass.  So please, please, for my sanity and the rest of us commuters, either take the freakin’ train or get in the slow lane!!!!! A’right!!!!!!!  Lecture Ended…..

Yeah Middle lane drivers, if I can, I like to make a point of moving from the inside lane, to the middle lane and finally to the fast lane to overtake these “if I sit here I can overtake and be overtaken” idiots, then to the middle and finally back to the inside to make my point, petty, well yes, but hey, nobody is perfect. READ YOUR HIGHWAYCODE you lazy ass tail back causing goof offs!!!!!

I get very bad at driving up their backs in a threatening stalker type manner. It doesn’t actualyl work that often, however.
