Rant of the week: The serious decline of descent lyricism in song writing

Posted on Thursday 27 September 2007

Ok, well I know that intelligence among Britains is in sharpe decline but never, oh never, have I heard worst lyricism than in a song today on the radio…..normally I leave my listening ears in the eye stabbing hands of rock radio but because I was in my workplace’s car, I had to listen to radio 2….which isn’t that bad and I’m getting towards that age where it’s acceptable to listen to, but oh my wordI never though Steve Wright would play such mince!!!, the lyrics went as so……”It starts in my toes, makes me crinkle my nose, where ever it goes i always know, that you make me smile, please stay for a while now, just take your time, where ever you go…..”  SERIOUSLY!!!!!! A RECORD COMPANY THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE AMAZING LYRICS AND GLADLY PAID MONEY TO HAVE THEM BE PUT IN A SONG THEN PUT ON THE RADIO!!!?????  Holy shit!!!  It’s got to be some of the worst lyrics I have ever heard, it actually beats Avril Lavignes….”you make me go….oh..oh..ohh” and that’s bad….but talk about just awful!!! That song takes the bad lyric biscuit…..I can hear John Lennon spinning in his grave!!!  and all of Zeppelin are spinning in their beds at night trying to sleep but knowing that song is out there!!!  making people’s ears bleeeed!!! with those truly atrocious lyrics!!!!  Seriously???  It makes me wanna be sick through my eyes…….

    Led Zepp

Umpa Umpa stick it up your jumper

John Lennon (may have been Mccartney but you get the point)

Bad / Twee lyrics aren’t new. But if they are in a classic tune we forgive them. Its just so obviously bad when the musics crap as well.
